So two nights ago now i started building the upper half of the wagon. It took some planning and though as I wanted the bottom to mesh with the top of course so I needed to work out depths for the build and how much I was going to need to shim from the back. The framework on the other side looks pretty funny. I had to do final touches to the paint tonight including adding two coats of the orange paint and painting in all of the holes above and below the green and yellow strips. The two shutters have doll house hinges to mount them into place. Took me a couple tries to mount them so they would open properly. I thought hanging real doors was difficult. On this scale its a real chore. The nails for the hinges are 4mm. I have to handle them with forceps because they are to small to handle even carefully by hand. After I got the shutters mounted I did the build for the mid rail. It's a half round piece glued on a square back stock. Then I started gluing square dowel's to the back of the boards using shims to bring them up to the right depths depending on needs to flush. The bottom half was a little warped from the painting and was not lying flush to the back support beams. I ended up taking a couple of brad's and pushing them through to secure it flush and then painting over the heads. I am tempted to use a little paperclay above them and then painting again to truly flush it out.
